Live crypto dashboard

2026

CryptoPulse

CryptoPulse is a live market dashboard that streams cryptocurrency prices over WebSockets and lets users build custom watchlists. The design problem was legibility under constant change: presenting continuously updating numbers so a user can read them without the interface becoming visually noisy.

Stack

  • — React
  • — WebSockets
  • — Third-party market APIs
  • — Real-time state management

Highlights

  • — Live data streams
  • — WebSocket updates
  • — Custom asset watchlists

The problem

Data that updates several times a second is easy to fetch and hard to display. If every value flashes on every tick, the dashboard becomes unreadable; if updates are throttled too aggressively, it stops being live.

The approach

Prices arrive over a persistent WebSocket connection rather than repeated polling, which keeps latency low and avoids hammering the API with requests.

On the interface side, update rendering was tuned so that change is legible — direction and magnitude are visible at a glance — without the whole screen redrawing constantly. Watchlists let a user reduce the surface to the assets they actually track.

Why this matters for business systems

The same techniques drive live operational dashboards: a restaurant kitchen display, a delivery tracking board, or a factory floor showing current production per stage. All of them need continuous data that a human can read at a glance.
